As I have said earlier, I am learning how to quilt. I LOVE IT! What a great way to express yourself. Now, I suppose I will end up doing what I usually do when I learn a new craft. That is, finding my own path, figuring out my own technique, putting my own little spin on what I make. I know, I know, there are rules and expectations and ways to follow the normal procedures when creating a quilt. Well, I had my own expectations also. For instance, I was hoping to hand-quilt each item I created. And I was hoping there were others around that also enjoyed hand-quilting. After watching my quilting instructor demonstrate the art of machine quilting, I had to re-think my choices. I was so very impressed with Justine's talent that I decided I had to learn to use my sewing machine to machine-quilt also.
My first project is a quilt that I made in Quilting 101. I still have a little more to do on it, so you will have to wait a bit longer before I display it.
My next project was a one-day class with the amazing Justine, creating an American Flag. It took a bit longer than one day for me to finish it - but, I am very proud of my first quilting experience.
I was in a holding pattern on my first project, so, I was challenged by a good friend to make this table top runner. I even used the embroidery attachment to my sewing machine. This runner was fun to make and took only about a week to totally complete.
This is what I have so far, and I hope to continue to stretch my abilities and learn more about quilting. Stay tuned for that first quilt of mine!!
