There is one combination that is really hard to beat . . . a great motorcycle ride and an awesome BBQ joint. We found just that combination in a ride with friends to Burkesville, KY. We rode 412 miles of beautiful Kentucky and Tennessee back roads. The rolling hills, the trees filling the landscape and the rock lined roads reminded us of our Tennessee rides into the foothills.
Burkesville seems to be a type of small town USA. Above the town sits a resort - which happened to be closed the day we were there. Burkesville is not far from Dale's Hollow, which is a favorite riding destination for many of our past excursions.

Hamilton's chef checking on the food that is cooking on the huge open fire BBQ grill.
I have to add a plug for Hamilton's BBQ. The food was great and at a great price. A plate of meat and 2 sides cost $7.00 to $8.00. We all chose different entrees, including ribs, pork chops and tenderloin. The meats were tender and juicy with plenty of flavor. The sides were very tasty. We even tried the Fried Pies - which were quite tasty.
This is definitely a place to add to your list of restaurants to visit! |
