Mid-July Flower Garden

Yes, we are having a heatwave!  And when it heats up, the flowers dry out.  I am back watering twice a day again.  Here are a few pictures of my 'mid-July' flowers.

Summertime in Kentucky - how does your garden grow?

It's summertime in Kentucky!  Hot Hot Hot!!!  Of course this means watering flowers at least twice a day!  It still amazes me how my plants can grow.  Here are some pictures . . .

I received this Poinsettia as a gift this past Christmas.  I had to bring it outside due to it's size.  It continues to grow regardless of the heat.  I keep it on the porch in the shade.

My raised garden.

My first attempt at growing cabbage.

The tomatoes are growing tall and thick - I just wish they would ripen!!

Come little tomato - turn red, turn red!!!

Growing thick!

They seem to be multiplying!

And growing thick!

I love the purple and yellow together.
More pictures to come as my plants grow and the tomatoes ripen!!

Updating the Yard Progress

I seem to be working at this flower/garden thing a bit slowly this year.  Partly due to the weather and partly due to me.  I do have the best of intentions, however, I just can't seem to enjoy being out in this heat and humidity.  So, I work early in the morning and late in the day.  Here are a few more pictures of my flower garden:

Lovely iron cart I found to hold some of my smaller flower pots.

A backside view of My Little Oasis.

Another try at the tilted flower pots.

A close-up view of My Little Oasis.

A new type of cup holder - flip flops!

I really love this yellow planter.

A front view of My Little Oasis, not quite yet finished.

Birdhouses with flowers added.

Flowers inspite of the rain . . .

We have finally had a break in the unforgiving heat of this summer.  Rain has finally found it's way to my plants.  So, while, the rain is taking care of my gardens, I thought I would post a few pictures of my flowers.

This is a log that Tim fond near the water.  It is huge, over 9ft
long.

However, when placed by the house, the log quickly shrunk!

This reminds me of my Red Hat's group.

Petunias

Rose of Sharon

Rose of Sharon

Moss Rose seems to be growing and multiplying.

I really loved this Stacking Pots, however, since someone stole it, it was needed elsewhere.

Another take on the Stacking Pots.

I created this bird bath out of three clay pots.  Lola is checking it out.

Knock out roses and petunias.

I love this picture of a flowering Rose of Sharon.

This Lantus plant is thriving this summer.

The "Before Pictures"

I thought it would be interesting to show the
'before' pictures of my flower gardens.

This is the large sign on our acreage before we began the "REDO".

This is the back of the big sign after Tim replaced the 2x4's which were rotting.
We had painted the sign also.

This is after the sign was painted and the river rock added.

This is the before picture of the small sign.

Cadiz Beauty Spot Award

Yesterday, Julie from the Gateway Garden Club of Cadiz, KY stopped by to inform us that we are the recipients of the Cadiz Beauty Spot award this month.  What a wonderful surprise!  How nice it is to be recognized for the hard work you have done.  Thank you garden club!!

The garden club placed this sign in my yard.

And to the people that stole my stacked pots,
you were not able to spoil my display!

New Addition To The Garden

I found a very cute Bird Bath online and wanted to make a similar Bird Bath.  I bought 3 clay pots of differing sizes and 1clay platter.  I decided to paint them in bold primary colors.  I stacked the pots (big to small) and placed the platter on top.  No glue was used.

I placed the Bird Bath by the small sign in our yard.
I added more plants to the mound

I purchased 2 iron looking towers to add to my front entrance.

I added flags for Flag Day.  I will keep these flags flying until after the 4th of July.

Another view of the larger sign and flower garden.
The weather has been very hot and we have had very little rain.  This means watering twice a day with the flowers.

Hope you get the chance to drive by and see my flowers in person.
