TN Tobacco Fields

Looks like it is Tobacco harvesting time here in Middle Tennessee.
Signs posted around the country side are looking for Tobacco
harvesters - pay . . . $7.25 per hour. Not a lot of money for the
job at hand.

From what I can see, it looks like the first step is to cut the stalks
and stack the tobacco in piles.

Next, they load the stalks on special racks which are used to
transport the stalks to their drying barns.

They hang the tobacco in the barns to dry. The drying process is
aided by a smoking process inside the barns.

Interesting note - the barns are usually very old and were built to allow
air to circulate through the barn. Many of the barns look like they won't
last much longer.
