Since I have not had a garden in over 10 years, I've decided to start small. The area surrounding our home is forest like, which translates into a large population of wild animals. And a number of deer walk through our back yard on a daily basis. So, the solution, a Raised Garden. We have taken an area behind the garage, which was already built up and loaded it with dirt.

This is a picture of the growth of my garden on April 28. |

I tried to label each row of vegetables. |
Plenty of room for my tomatoes, rhubarb, peas, beans, radishes, peppers and onions. I have also added marigold flowers to the perimeter of the raised garden to help keep deer away. |
I have 4 tomato plants, 2 of which are in these clay pots. |
I planted 4 rhubarb plants - I have 3 rhubarb that are still alive and thriving. |
When joining the Arbor Day Foundation, I received 10 free trees. So far all 10 are still alive! |
We have a soaker hose hooked to the rain barrel which provides constant moisture to the garden. The garden is weeks ahead of schedule, however, the days are getting hotter and I hope there will no longer be any threat of frost. I am so excited for my first taste of homegrown veggies!!
